The Abel School was opened in 1938, and ever since then has remained the premier equestrian boarding school on the East Coast. At Abel, everyone is first treated as an equestrian, and secondly as a student.
Students love the equestrian facility, along with what it offers them. Elite project horses are assigned to meet each rider's individual preferences, and any discipline can be ridden at TAS. Not only is Abel proud of it's wide diversity of equestrian athletes, but also of the talent and diversity of our students, who come from all over the world!

Abel has a spectacular library. The room is circular, two stories, and very old-fashioned. No matter if you're here to find a book, or to access Facebook in the Mac lab, you'll be pleased with what you find.
Don't worry, the food is very edible. Abel offers everything from French fries to salads made with fresh greens and gourmet grilled chicken breast. There is no need to eat out.
The gym is always open for students to practice their sport of choice. Equipment is all stored in the back room, and must be put back at the end of the day.
Located in the center of the campus, the coffee shop has become a student favorite. Along with quality cappuccinos, there is also free wifi internet access for laptop users.
The lounge is a common hang out for riding students. Connected to the indoor riding arena and the stall barn, it is easy to access. It serves as both a trophy room, viewing room in to the indoor, and hang out for friends.
Abel's large, one-hundred stall barn is one of the main architectural attractions at Abel. It is old, but beautifully crafted of cinder block and wood. There are four main isles, an expansive hayloft, and each stall is 20' x 20'.
There are many project horses for students to choose from while at Abel. No matter what discipline, we will be able to provide you with the perfect horse, no matter your skill level.
At Abel we have an extensive cross-country course of over 90 obstacles on 100 acre stretch behind the riding arenas. They range from simple logs for those who are only starting out at jumping to an Intermediate Horse Trials event course.
Want to turn your horse out? You can do so here. Horses can be turned out alone or in pairs, depending on handler's judgment. Although there is no riding of horses in the pastures, students have been known to do it anyway.
There are miles of trails surrounding Abel. Although, you must be wary of wild animals who could pose a threat to your peaceful day out. Within the trees, they are many safe meadows and fields for galloping.
There is lots to offer at this hilly park: a swing set, jogging trails, open meadows, thick brush. Enjoy the breathtaking mountain scenery alone, or bring a date along.

A dance club for 21 year olds and over, located in Charlotte, RAPTOR has become exceptionally popular. Obviously, no students are allowed; but ID check is often very lenient, and hey, who hasn't heard of a fake ID? For students who have cars for the 40 minutes commute, it's a temptation.
As simply as the little shop says above their entrance, they sell just that. Every flavor that one could imagine can be found inside. A must-have on a hot day? I think so.
